1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and JL Pro Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 08567331), registered office 341 Rayners Lane, Pinner, HA5 5EN, which runs Stato at stato.pro (“Stato”, “we”, “us”).

By creating an account, or by joining or hosting a game, you agree to these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we use personal data, and forms part of this agreement.

2. How Stato works

Stato is a platform for recording and analysing grassroots football. Hosts organise their own leagues and games, and players join them. After a game, the host uploads its video, our analysts tag what happens in it, and Stato publishes stats, awards, rankings and highlights for every player.

Stato does not organise, run or supervise games. Each game is the host's responsibility (see section 5).

During our launch stage, only Stato's own team hosts games (see section 9). Section 5 applies to anyone who hosts once hosting opens.

3. Your account

  • You must be 18 or over to create an account.
  • Give accurate details, and use your real name or a name you're happy to have shown publicly next to your stats.
  • One account per person. Keep your password safe, and tell us at support@stato.pro if you think someone else has used your account.
  • Your Player ID must not impersonate anyone or be offensive. We may change one that is.

4. Filming and publication

Every game on Stato is filmed with sound and analysed. Joining a game means agreeing to that. If you don't want to be filmed, don't join the game.

When a game is published, anyone can see, including people who aren't signed in:

  • your name as shown on Stato, and your Player ID;
  • your stats, awards, rankings and play style from that game;
  • highlight clips you appear in, and the full match video with sound.

After a game you can ask us to remove your name or anonymise you in its stats, as the Privacy Policy explains. The video itself usually stays, because it is the record that every player's stats rely on.

5. If you host games

As a host, you organise your leagues and games, and you are responsible for them. In particular, you agree that:

  • you are responsible for the venue, the booking, the players' safety and anything you arrange with players outside Stato;
  • every player in your games is 18 or over;
  • you have told every player, before the game, that it will be filmed with sound and published on Stato;
  • when you add a player without a Stato account (an “unclaimed player”), you have told them they are being added by name and filmed, and they have not objected;
  • you have the right to film at the venue, and to upload the video to Stato.

6. Video you upload

You keep ownership of the match video you upload. By uploading it, you give JL Pro Ltd a permanent, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, analyse, edit, clip and publish it, and to let others do so on our behalf, as part of Stato.

The licence cannot be withdrawn, and it continues if you delete your account, your league or the game. You can't require us to take a video down, because it is the record that other players' stats and awards rely on.

We will still remove or restrict a video, or part of it, where the law requires it, for example after a valid privacy objection or a court order.

7. Stats, awards and rankings

Stats are our analysts' judgement of what happened in the video. We work to get them right, but we can't promise every one is accurate.

If you think a stat is wrong, send a correction request from the game's page. We'll review it, and we decide the final result. We may also correct, republish or recalculate stats, awards and rankings at any time.

8. Acceptable use

Don't:

  • harass, abuse or threaten anyone, on Stato or because of something on it;
  • give false information, impersonate someone, or add a player who doesn't exist;
  • upload video you don't have the right to share, or that isn't of a real game on Stato;
  • copy or scrape Stato's data in bulk, or try to get around its security;
  • use other people's data from Stato for anything unrelated to football on Stato.

9. Fees and hosting during launch

While Stato is in its launch (MVP) stage, accounts are free, and only Stato's own team hosts games and uploads video. These are mainly past games we analyse to show what Stato can do. Hosting your own games on Stato isn't open yet.

When hosting opens to everyone, it will be a paid service, and you'll see the price and any extra terms before you pay. We'll give at least 30 days' notice, by email or in the app, before we charge for anything you already use for free.

10. Safety, and our liability

Football carries a risk of injury. Stato doesn't organise the games it records: they are organised by their hosts or, for past games we analyse, by whoever ran them at the time. Stato is not responsible for the venue, the game itself, or injuries, loss or damage that happen at a game.

Stato is provided free and “as is” during the MVP. We don't promise it will always be available or free of errors. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for:

  • loss of data, stats or rankings;
  • anything a host, player or other user does;
  • indirect losses, or losses we couldn't reasonably have foreseen.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud, or anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected.

11. Suspending or ending your account

You can ask us to delete your account at any time by emailing privacy@stato.pro. The Privacy Policy explains what happens: your name, email, password and Player ID are removed, and your past stats stay as “Deleted player”.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or to protect other users or Stato. Where it's reasonable, we'll tell you why first.

12. Changes, law and contact

We may update these terms. If a change affects you significantly, we'll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect; carrying on using Stato after that means you accept the new terms.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
